The Canberra City Heart Business Association was formed in 1997 when a small group of dedicated stakeholders of Canberra’s CBD came together to deliver on their shared vision of a city centre that is the retail, commercial, entertainment and cultural heart of Canberra.
This vision is a central tenant of the Territory Plan and is further reinforced by the National Capital Plan.
Today, we promote our city centre in the minds of the community as a diverse, vibrant and exciting place, and as Canberra’s premier location for commercial, retail, entertainment and cultural activity.
We are proud of our achievements across a diverse range of issues. We believe we play a valuable role in the debate on planning and development and have partnered and continue to partner with Government on a range of activities. Our focus is not exclusively on commercial activities and we consider participation in cultural and community affairs in the city as an important aspect of our work. We take particular pride in our fundraising which since our formation has raised close to $250,000.00 for charity.
We believe our city centre is on the eve of an exciting era of growth and development, and the Association is ready to play its part. In just a few years, we will be celebrating the centenary of the foundation of our beautiful city and we are confident City Heart will have played an integral role in establishing Canberra as a world class city when she turns 100 in 2013.
